Addressing our global challenge
Human society is facing a large number of social, environmental and economic problems as a consequence of global climate change that will require visionary and cost effective solutions. Business as usual is no longer an option.

The built environment is where the challenge and the opportunity are the greatest. The built environment is one of the largest sources of greenhouse gas emissions, however we need to create accommodation for 3 billion people over the next 20 years.

Denmark's Bjørn Lomborg and Canada's Michael Green present two different, yet complementary views, informed by their respective roles as economist and architect.

With professional experience in 28 countries, Jeb Brugmann, Founding Partner of The Next Practice, has been a pioneer of new practice domains including urban sustainability and climate change mitigation, 'base of the pyramid' (BOP) business development for large low-income market segments, place-based development and social enterprise.

Dr Esther Sternberg will bring a physiological perspective to the Conference, explaining with scientific expertise the impact of green building and architecture on human health, as described in her fascinating book Healing Spaces: The Science and Place of Well-Being.
