Andrew Aitken, QLD State Manager, GBCA
Andrew Aitken is the Queensland State Manager of the Green Building Council of Australia. He has a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Queensland University of Technology.
Prior to joining the GBCA in May 2008, Andrew made significant contributions to the emergence of sustainable urban development in South East Queensland. His work has included policy development, codes of practice and guideline development, industry and community consultation relating to sustainable development and energy efficiency projects.
Andrew has wide ranging experience in energy management, procurement and infrastructure design and project management. He has specific experience in design and documentation of building services and renewable energy projects.
Andrew has specific experience relating to corporate management of energy resources and procurement strategies. He has experience in establishing corporate systems to manage energy use and expenditure, negotiating and managing large energy procurement contracts, designing and implementing energy efficiency opportunity and analysis programs and reporting to corporate managers. He has led a team to establish a greenhouse emissions inventory and reporting process for Australia’s largest local government and has led collaborative projects to address greenhouse emissions from the South East Queensland region.
Green building innovators will gather in Brisbane from 1-3 March, 2009 to launch new products and technologies, and explore new ideas in sustainable building.
The 2008 event attracted more than 1300 delegates, and Green Cities 09 is shaping up to be bigger and better.
