Pippa Connolly, Structural Engineer, ARUP

Pippa joined Arup in London as a graduate in 1987 with a Masters degree in Architectural Engineering from Leeds University. She has utilised this background to the full working on multi-disciplinary projects worldwide, primarily in structural groups. Project work she has been involved in ranges from individual sculptures and travelling exhibition stands to bridges, multi building and infrastructure developments including projects with a focus on sustainability.

She has been based in the London, Singapore, New Zealand and Melbourne offices and is currently a principal in the Melbourne structures group.

Pippa has strengthened her construction knowledge by spending a good proportion of time on site, including a period seconded to a contractor as a deputy site agent in London, piling supervision in London's docklands and a full time site role at Te Papa (National Museum of New Zealand) in Wellington. The variety of work has been delivered through a number of more unusual contractual arrangements, including alliancing, partnering and innovation.
