Siobhan Toohill, General Manager, Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability, Stockland

Siobhan Toohill is General Manager, Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability (CR&S) for Stockland, Australia's largest diversified property group. Stockland owns, develops and manages commercial and residential property across Australia and in the UK.

Siobhan guides the development and implementation of Stockland's CR&S strategy, addressing responsibilities in the marketplace, workplace, community, and environment. She supports Stockland's CR&S Board Committee, leads the organisation's sustainability network and chairs the Employee CR&S and Giving & Volunteering Committees.

Siobhan commenced Stockland's annual CR&S reporting program in 2006. Stockland's 2007 CR&S report was assured to AA1000AS and attained GRI-B+ accreditation.

Siobhan has been involved in shaping emerging tools to enable more sustainable building and communities, including the BASIX residential sustainability tool in NSW and participation in the Green Building Council of Australia. She has spoken extensively at property industry and government forums on sustainable development and reporting.

Siobhan sits on the Property Council of Australia's National Sustainability Roundtable and the Operations Taskforce of the Australian Business and Community Network.

With over 14 years' experience in architecture, urban design and sustainability, Siobhan has worked previously at Lend Lease, in small architectural practices and the NSW Government's Urban Design Advisory Service.

She has lectured in urban design, planning and architecture at the University of NSW. In 2000 Siobhan was recognised by the Planning Institute of Australia as Young Planner of the Year and in 2006 was awarded the National Association of Women in Construction's (NAWIC) inaugural Sustainability Award. In 2004 she was selected to participate in the St James Ethics Centre's Vincent Fairfax Fellowship, a two-year program that seeks to foster ethical leadership in Australia.

 

Green Cities 09 is Australia's premier conference for sustainability in the built environment. A joint initiative of the Green Building Council of Australia and the Property Council of Australia, the theme for Green Cities 09 is "Valuable, Affordable, Sustainable".

Green building innovators will gather in Brisbane from 1-3 March, 2009 to launch new products and technologies, and explore new ideas in sustainable building.
