Romilly Madew, Chief Executive, Green Building Council of Australia

Romilly Madew is the Chief Executive of the Green Building Council of Australia, a position she has held since February 2005.

Romilly is an experienced property advocate, a board member for the ACT Government's Land Development Agency and previously Executive Director of the ACT Division of the Property Council of Australia, as well as the Council's National Executive Director of Sustainability.

Romilly's achievements include:

  • Representing the GBCA on the Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council (ASBEC) and ASBEC's Climate Change and Business Case task groups.
  • Steering committee member on the Built Environment Meets Parliament (BEMP) initiative and the Business Leaders Forum on Sustainable Development.
  • Board member of the ACT Government's Land Development Agency.
  • Representing the GBCA at the Australia 2020 Summit in the Population, Sustainability, Climate Change and Water discussion stream.
  • Involved in the development of the Sustainable Building Pathways report.
  • Committee member of the World Green Building Council - the international umbrella organisation of green building councils.
  • Author of The Dollars and Sense of Green Buildings 2006 - Building the Business Case for Green Commercial Buildings in Australia.
  • Closely involved with the establishment and development of green building councils in New Zealand and South Africa.

Romilly has a Bachelor of Agriculture Economics from the University of Sydney, and is currently completing her MBA.

Green Cities 09 is Australia's premier conference for sustainability in the built environment. A joint initiative of the Green Building Council of Australia and the Property Council of Australia, the theme for Green Cities 09 is "Valuable, Affordable, Sustainable".

Green building innovators will gather in Brisbane from 1-3 March, 2009 to launch new products and technologies, and explore new ideas in sustainable building.
